Castes and Tribes of Southern India/Māgura
Māgura.— Recorded, in the Madras Census Report, 1901, as a small caste of Oriya leafplate makers and shikāris (huntsmen). The name is said to be derived from māgora, meaning one who traces foot-paths and tracks.
