Works in this category were first published in Nauru and are now in the public domain because its copyright protection has expired by virtue of the Copyright Act 2019. The work meets one of the following criteria:

• It is an artistic, literary or scientific work and 50 years have passed since the year of the author's death (or the death of the last surviving author in the case of works with multiple authors).
• It is a collective work or film and 50 years have passed since the year in which the latest of the following events occurred: the work was made, first made available to the public, or first published.
• It is a work of applied art and 25 years have passed since the year in which the work was made.
• It is a typographical arrangement of a published edition and 25 years have passed since the end of the calendar year in which the work was made.
• It is a work created by a person employed or engaged by the Republic of Nauru and 100 years have passed since the end of the calendar year in which the work was made.
