Category talk:Soft redirects
Add topicIs this system with soft redirects really needed? If the redirects created by page moves, there i less work for everyone. You don't have to add the template, wait, and then delete the redirect, and external sites does not have to update their links. Redirects that are clearly wrong can be deleted, but most redirects are not really wrong (maybe only different title format, or other small differences). And some redirects are clearly useful (e.g. Constitution of Palestine of 1996 is something that someone might actually search for). I can see no harm in keeping redirects – they don't take up much space in the database (the soft redirects does probably need more space), they can be useful, and it is more work to delete them than to keep them. /82.212.68.183 23:31, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
Why are these not just regular redirects? Eventually deleting them would be bad, resulting in dead links from the Web. --Pmsyyz 01:20, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
