Chapter XVI.—The Thirsty Dog.  (犬症.)

THERE was a deaf man who went to see a friend. When he reached the residence, he knocked at the door. The dog barked continuously outside for a long time. It happened to rain. His friend opened the door fronting the street and shouted toward the house. He said to his friend: "Your respected dog must be affected with thirst. He must be very thirsty. If you do not believe it, you just look. His mouth is wide open, waiting to catch rain water."
