Alla scozzese. (I.) In the Scotch style. This expression is applied icy by the Italians either to a whole movement or to a particular passage. It does not always signify that the style is directly Scottish ; but that it is so far of a Caledonian caste or tinge, as to re-mind us of the Scotch music.
