Apycni. A collective name given by the Greeks to those three sounds in their scale, or system, which, separately, were called proslambanomenos, nete symnemenon, and nete hyperboloeon. These notes received the common appellation of apycni, the settee of which is, uncrowded, because they did not, on either side, touch, or press upon the compact intervals.
