BOOTH, PENISTON, D.D. (1681–1765), dean of Windsor, published a single sermon, ‘Of Baptism,' 8vo, on Gal. iii. 27, in 1718. On 9 May 1722 he was appointed canon of Windsor; on 26 April 1729 was installed dean of Windsor; and on 23 July 1733 was collated chancellor of London. By 1749 he had made many improvements in the deanery. Two of the plates in Pote's ‘History of Windsor,' concerning St. George’s Chapel (pp. 60 and 72), are inscribed to him and his canons. He died on 21 Sept, 1765, aged 84.
