CLARK, WILLIAM (1698–1780?), physician, a native of Wiltshire, studied medicine at Leyden, where he graduated M.D. in 1727. He practised in London for some years, and removed to Bradford in Wiltshire in 1747. Retiring from practice in 1772, he lived at Colchester, dying there about 1780. His Leiden dissertation for M.D. was published in London in English in 1752, under the title 'A Medical Dissertation concerning the effects of the Passions on Human Bodies.' He also wrote 'The Province of Midwives,' London, 1751.
