83.GRIEF

I saw a little child to-day
A child that sang about his play;
He hailed me straight, he came to me
And perched in pride upon my knee.

But, ah, what chokes my laugh with tears?
What grief comes calling down the years?
And how do present joys but fill
My cup of sorrow fuller still?

From an Estonian folk-song.
