Executive Order 1519

To Prevent Trespassing Upon Reservations.


By virtue of the authority vested in me, I hereby establish the following Order for the Canal Zone:


Section 1. Every person who shall go into or upon any reservation or other place belonging to or under the control of the United States of America, the Canal Zone Government, or the Panama Railroad Company, after such reservation or place has been posted as hereinafter prescribed in this Order, and without the permission of the person in charge of such reservation or place, shall be deemed guilty of trespassing; and upon conviction shall be punished by a fine not to exceed $25.00, or by imprisonment in jail not to exceed 30 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment in the discretion of the court.


Sec. 2. The posting required by this Order shall consist of printed or painted signs, conspicuously placed, by the authority of the Chairman of the Commission, at or near the reservation or place from which the public are to be excluded, and shall in plain and simple words warn all persons against trespassing upon the reservation or place.


Sec. 3. Every person who wilfully injures, destroys, or removes any sign placed or erected under the provisions of this Order shall be punished by a fine not to exceed $100.00, or by imprisonment in jail not to exceed 3 months, or by both such fine and imprisonment in the discretion of the court.


Sec. 4. This Order shall take effect 60 days from and after this date.
