Executive Order 246
By authority of the sixteenth section of the act of Congress approved March second, 1901, entitled "An act to carry into effect the stipulations of article seven of the treaty between the United States and Spain, concluded on the tenth day of December, 1898," the period of two years from the date of the approval of said act (during which the powers and jurisdiction granted to the Spanish Treaty Claims Commission duly appointed under the first section of said act of Congress to examine and adjudicate all claims of citizens of the United States against Spain, which the United States agreed to adjudicate and settle by the seventh article of said treaty were, according to said act, to be in force and continue) is hereby extended for and during six months from and after the second day of March, nineteen hundred and four, and for no longer time, it being the judgment of the President that such extension is necessary to enable the Commission to complete its work.
