Whereas the inhabitants of the former municipalities of Longos and San Antonio have petitioned that the same be separated from the municipality of Paete, Province of La Laguna, and have promised to contribute, if necessary, with labor to repair the public buildings, streets, and so forth, of said former municipalities:
Now, therefore, upon recommendation of the provincial board of La Laguna and pursuant to the provisions of Act Numbered Seventeen hundred and forty-eight, entitled “An Act authorizing the adjustment of provincial and municipal boundaries and authorizing the change of capitals of provinces and subprovinces, as may be necessary from time to time to serve the public convenience and interest,” the twenty-three municipalities of the Province of La Laguna as established by Acts Numbered Nine hundred and thirty-nine, One thousand and eight, Thirteen hundred and eight, Fifteen hundred and fifty-two, Sixteen hundred and nine and Seventeen hundred and twelve, are hereby increased to twenty-four by separating the former municipalities of Longos and San Antonio from the present municipality of Paete and organizing them into a new municipality which shall be known as the municipality of Longos.
The municipality of Paete shall consist of the territory which it comprised prior to the pasage of Act Numbered Nine hundred and thirty-nine. The municipality of Longos shall consist of the territory comprised in the former municipalities of Longos and San Antonio prior to the passage of said Act, with the seat of municipal government in the población of Langos: Provided, That the salary of the municipal president of Longos shall not exceed 144 pesos per annum.
The separation herein made shall be effective on January first, nineteen hundred and nine.
