Fox Footprints/I have seen lovely sights in far-off places
Appearance
I have seen lovely sights in far-off placesWhose very names with sandalwood are sweet. And lure the tongue until it must repeat:Canton, and Bangkok on its marshy spaces,Kyoto filled with children's flower-like faces. And all the marvel of a Peking street,And burning Kilauea at one's feet,And Singapore, the meeting-place of races.
So having seen, I say: Beauty is oneAnd needs no journeying nor far emprise,Across all things its gracious tendrils runAnd flower unnoticed by our casual eyes—The apple tree that blossoms in the sunIs not surpassed by all of Paradise!
