Have a Heart (Bolton, Kern and Wodehouse)/Bright Lights

From Wikisource
Verse 1

DOLLY How I love to go out to some live spot,
Where there's light, and an orchestra plays.
HENRY Where you hand the head waiter a five-spot,
Or you don't get a table for days.
DOLLY Where the gowns are all up to the minute,
And where ev'rything's lovely and gay,
HENRY And the night's gone before you begin it;
So you finish things up through the day.

Refrain

BOTH Come with me where there are bright lights,
Where the white lights gleam and glow.
Where the festive ukalele
Tingles gaily, let us go.
We will sup with one another
Till the merry morning chime.
Say goodbye to home and mother,
We'll be gone a long, long time.

Verse 2

DOLLY We will drink the champagne that is fizzy,
Then, some dancing, of course, I'd adore.
HENRY All the people will whisper, "Who is he?"
When they see me come out on the floor.
DOLLY Do you think you could get through some one steps,
Or at dancing, are you quite a dunce?
HENRY It is true that I've never yet done steps,
But, ah gee! I'll try anything once!

Refrain

BOTH Come with me where there are bright lights,
Where the white lights gleam and glow.
Where the festive ukalele
Tingles gaily, let us go.
We will sup with one another
Till the merry morning chime.
Say goodbye to home and mother,
We'll be gone a long, long time.
