Process used for combining images that were split across two pages
[edit]Process used to combine the images (used GIMP 2.10.36):
- Downloaded .jp2 files from https://ia600206.us.archive.org/view_archive.php?archive=/27/items/municipalofficia00auck/municipalofficia00auck_jp2.zip
- Open first image in GIMP
- Increase canvas size (Image > Canvas Size > double the width)
- Open the second image using File > Open as Layers
- Line up the images as close as possible (using the Move Tool)
- Crop the image: Use the Rectangle Select Tool to select the area to crop. Then crop the image to the area selected (Image > Crop to Selection).
- Save the source file (.xcf) (File > Save)
- Export as a jpg with 90% quality (File > Export As)
Source .xcf files (GIMP format) are available if you would like to improve the images.
