nop

[edit]

Will nop at the end of the page create unwanted break in the poems in name space? Outlier59 (talk) 21:59, 3 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Yes, only use nop at stanza breaks that are at the end of pages. For stanzas that are split between pages, just use a <br /> on the last line. Beeswaxcandle (talk) 22:34, 3 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
What I saw was {{nop}}</poem> at the bottom of a page. I moved the {{nop}} to the line below </poem>. But the next page continues the poem with <poem>. Do I need to add the <br /> at the end of all pages in which the stanza continues on the following page with <poem>? Outlier59 (talk) 02:27, 4 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
Never mind. I checked, and it works without the break, because the <poem> keeps everything lined up. Outlier59 (talk) 13:18, 4 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

block center, first line indent, line numbers

[edit]

@Prosody: there are a LOT of options for formatting poems in Wikisource Help:Poetry. I don't know what works best for epub, pdf, small screens, whatever, so I'm asking for help here.

I've done pages 9-21 using {{block center/s}} and {{block center/e}}, kept the <poem>tags, and kept the simple line numbering using {{r|[line#]}}. I've also used a colon to indent where indents occur. It looks okay here. The only problem I had was using the colon for indentation near a {{brace}}. That didn't work, so I left the line un-indented. I can easily change those pages if needed.

What's the best way to format this collection of poems? I'm asking you because you did all the original work. --Outlier59 (talk) 16:34, 4 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

I'm equally unfamiliar with best practices for poetry on multiple display formats. You may want to open a discussion on the Scriptorium. Your style changes look pretty good on the large screen web. Prosody (talk) 05:44, 6 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
