- John K. Mahon received the B.A. degree from Swarthmore College in 1934 and the Ph.D. degree in history from the University of California, Los Angeles, in 1950. He served with the Army on active duty from 1942 to 1946 and as a civilian historian in the Office of the Chief of Military History from 1951 to 1954. A professor of history at the University of Florida since 1954 and Chairman of the Department of History since 1965, he is author of works on the early militia and of History of the Second Seminole War, 1835-1842.
- Romana Danysh graduated from Barnard College in 1962 and received the M.A. degree in history from Stanford University in 1963. Since 1964. she has served as a historian in the Organizational History Branch of the Office of the Chief of Military History.
