Lest They Forget
by William James Roe

Not for factious feud or quarrel,
  Olive crown or laurel wreath,
Fly the banners highest masted
  ‘Gainst the tyranny or wrong;—
Keep the bullet in the barrel
And the sword-blade in the sheath,
Lest some coward—churl or dastard—
Should forget that we are strong.
