With the sweetest hours of MayCome the wild red roses;Thick throughout the meadow-hayWine-bright bloom uncloses.
Yet my heart is sorrowing,Full of grief unsleeping;In a green hill-plot in springI have sat a-weeping.
For the tears I shed to-dayFall upon the rosesThat, in sweetest hours of May,One grave's grass encloses.
