new version better understandable for novices

[edit]

Below is my attempt at creating a new and better missing page error message. I'm not experienced at this, so feel free to alter it.--GrafZahl (talk) 14:32, 29 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

I've made a few minor changes. Overall looks good to me! -SCEhardT 21:28, 2 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wikisource does not have a page with this exact name

[edit]
[edit]

Sometimes, it is necessary to change page names. As a result, links from external sites leading here can become broken. Luckily, there is a permalink feature to avoid this. On all regular pages, there is a link titled Permanent link in the toolbox on the left. If you came from an external site, please notify the webmaster of that site and ask them to use permalinks in the future. Not only does the link remain intact, but the page content remains at precisely the version when the link was added.

Suggestion for parser functions

[edit]

If the "Not found" page was in Author: namespace, "You can add this text" is a bit nonsensical. I suggest a different message if this is called from different namespaces. 68.39.174.238 04:07, 15 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

[edit]

When this message is presented, the section edit links look a little nonsensical or confusing, especially since they appear to be inviting you to edit the error message! These should be suppressed. 68.39.174.238 16:37, 15 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Page namespace

[edit]

It would make sense for this message, when displaying for non-existent pages in the Page namespace, to provide a link to (or perhaps even better, an excerpt or summary from) Help:Side by side image view for proofreading. --bainer (talk) 13:53, 14 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Why

[edit]

this is stupid and is wasting my time............ unsigned comment by 72.161.208.80 (talk) .

If you are after some help, you are going to need to be more specific about the problem, and the sort of solution that you are seeking. billinghurst (talk) 03:40, 14 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
[edit]

Please add class="plainlinks" to the parameters of the
of the main content of the message and and before and after the Suggest an Improvement link as the external icon next to it make it look like it links to another website. I have an example below. Thanks, Kirbylover4000 (talk) 02:51, 7 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Done thanks for the feedback. billinghurst sDrewth 12:24, 7 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Internal erroe

[edit]

Suggest you remove the statement Wikisource has original works written by or about: Garrett P. Serviss from that persons Wikipedia page as Wikisource claims it does not have an author page with this exact name. It's unpleasant to find a broken link, but when it's from one segment of a site to another, it's more serious.

That's not an internal error; that's a problem with content on Wikipedia, which is a separate project with a separate group of editors. We have no control over what happens on Wikipedia. You'd need to edit the Wikipedia page, or else post a comment somewhere appropriate on Wikipedia. --EncycloPetey (talk) 01:06, 17 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
Or the easiest thing that we can do is start the page Garrett P. Serviss, though it will be lacking particular content for the while. OR We can fix the link to the existing author page (which I have done). — billinghurst sDrewth 11:30, 17 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
