Coll., Camb., 1868, LL.B. 1865, a member of the Northern circuit, a student of the Inner Temple 27 Jan., 1863 (then aged 20), called to the bar 6 June, 1866 (youngest son of late Sir Elkanah Armitage, Knt., of Hope Hall, Eccles, Lanc.); born 20 Oct., 1842; married 3 Feb., 1870, Emily, dau. of late John Fenton, Esq., M.P. Rochdale (see Foster's Baronetage).
