Athawes, Edward James, M.A., Trin. Coll., Camb., 1862, from Winchester Coll., stipendiary magistrate for Chatham and Sheerness since 5 Dec, 1877, a student of Lincoln's Inn 24 May, 1857 (then aged 21), called to the bar there 17 Nov., 1860, admitted a barrister of the Middle Temple ad eundem 26 Feb., 1866 (eldest son of Rev. John Athawes, of Loughton, Bucks) ; born , 1836; married , 1869, Helena Turnell, dau. of Robert Spofforth, Esq., of Howden, Yorks.
