Brougham and Vaux, Lord (William Brougham), late col. 1st Cumberland royal volunteers, M.P. Southwark 1831–4, M.A., Jesus Coll., Camb., 1822, a master in chancery 1835–40, a commissioner of public records, J.P. Cumberland, J.P., D.L. Westmorland, a student of Lincoln's Inn 4 May, 1820 (then aged 24), called to the bar 9 May, 1823 (eldest surviving son of late Henry Brougham, Esq., of Brougham Hall, Cumberland); born 26 Sept., 1795; married 12 Aug., 1834, Emily Frances, only dau. of late Sir Charles William Taylor, Bart., M.P.; she died 8 April, 1884, having had issue (see Foster's Peerage).
