Coll., Camb., 1862, recorder of Stamford since June, 1881, counsel for the Mint at Birmingham and Warwick, revising barrister since 1876, etc., a member of the Midland circuit, editor of Rogers on Elections, of Corrupt Practices Act 1883, a student of the Inner Temple 15 Nov., 1861 (aged 21), called to the bar 17 Nov., 1865 (3rd son of Samuel Carter, of London, late M.P. Coventry, dec.); born 29 Dec, 1839; married 31 Oct., 1876, Amy Josephine, 2nd dau. of Rev. John Gylby Lonsdale, M.A., canon of Lichfield.
