Davis, Sackville, M.A., LL.B., D.C.L. Worcester Coll., Oxon, a member of the Calcutta, Bombay, and North-west Provinces (India) bars and Calcutta Bar Club, held briefs in several Indian causes célèbres, a student of Lincoln's Inn 12 Jan., 1858 (then aged 28), called to the bar 27 Jan., 1862 (5th son of Jacob Davis, Esq., of Cheltenham, dec. ); born , 1830; married 9 Nov., 1881, Caroline Frances, eldest dau. of late Clement Tudway Swanston, Esq., Q.C., M.A., F.R.S., by his wife Hon. Anne, dau. of late Rt. Hon. John, Lord Romilly, Master of the Rolls (see Foster's Peerage).
