Ellison-Macartney, John William, M.P. co. Tyrone since 1874, J.P., D.L. co. Tyrone, J.P. co. Fermanagh, high sheriff co. Armagh 1869, J.P., assumed the surname and arms of Macartney by royal licence 4 April, 1859, educated at Bonn and Munich Univs., a student of the Middle Temple 5 Nov., 1839, called to the bar 12 June, 1846, called to the bar also at King's Inns, Dublin, 1848 (only son of Rev. Thomas Ellison, of Kilkenny, dec.); born 2 May, 1818; married 27 May, 1851, Elizabeth Phoebe, eldest surviving dau. of Rev. John Grey Porter, of Kilskery, co. Tyrone, and Belleisle, co. Fermanagh, and has issue.
