Fleming, James, Q.C., chief commissioner of the West India encumbered estates court since 1865, chancellor of the county palatine of Durham since 1871, author of Rules and Orders Chancery Court Durham, a student of Lincoln's Inn 30 March, 1832, went to the Middle Temple 9 May, 1836, where he was called to the bar 10 June, 1836, Q.C. 9 Jan., 1858 (eldest son of Valentine Fleming, capt. 9th regt., dec.); born , ; married 18 Aug., 1841, Julia Matilda, younger dau. and co-heir of late Major John Canning (of Foxcote); she died May, 1866.
