Fox, Sir William, K.C.M.G., M.A., Wadham Coll., Oxon, 1839, prime minister of New Zealand 1856, 1861-2, 1869-72, formerly practised before the High Court of Rangitikei, New Zealand, a student of the Inner Temple 15 Nov., 1838 (then aged 26), called to the bar 29 April, 1842 (3rd son of George Townshend Fox, Esq., of Durham); born 9 June, 1812; married 3 May, 1842, Sarah, eldest dau. of William Halcombe, Esq., of Poulton House, Wilts.
