Hargrave, (Hon.) John Fletcher, M.A., Trin. Coll., Camb., 1840, puisne judge New South Wales since 1865 and judge in matrimonial causes since 1873, reader in general jurisprudence Sydney Univ. 1858-65, member of Legislative Assembly and Executive Council 1859, attorney-general of New South Wales 1861-3 and 1863-5, author of A Treatise on the Thellusson Act, a student of Lincoln's Inn 28 Sept., 1836, called to the bar 26 Jan., 1841 (eldest son of Joshua S. Hargrave, Esq., of Greenwich); born , 1815; married 20 Sept., 1843, Ann, dau. of William Hargrave, Esq., of Woodhouse, Leeds.
