Hooper, James John, M.A., Wadham Coll., Oxon, 1849, fellow of Oriel Coll. 1848, judge of county courts (circuit No. 20) since Dec., 1883, recorder of South Molton 1877-84, vice-chairman of joint Board of Examiners Inns of Court 1877-84 and sometime an examiner. Inner Temple tutor in constitutional law and legal history 1871-5, formerly counsel to the Post Office on Western circuit, a student of the Inner Temple 18 Jan., 1850 (then aged 26), called to the bar 17 Nov., 1852 (eldest son of late Rev. James Hooper, rector of East Lydford, Somerset); born 7 Nov., 1823; unmarried.
