Johnson, John James, Q.C., recorder of Chichester since 1863, J.P. Sussex, vice-chairman quarter sessions Western division, educated at Winchester Coll., a student of the Middle Temple 19 April, 1833, called to the bar 10 June, 1836, Q.C. 15 Feb., 1864, bencher 5 May, 1864, treasurer 1877 (3rd son of William Johnson, Esq., of Chichester, Sussex, dec.); born June, 1812; married 8 July, 1852, Mary Judith, 2nd dau. of Thomas Barton, Esq., of Rolands Castle, Hants; she died , 1855, leaving issue.
