Ker, (Hon.) Alan, puisne judge of Jamaica and judge of encumbered estates court since 1860, acting attorney-general Antigua 1853, chief justice Nevis 1854-6, chief justice Dominica 1856-60, a student of the Middle Temple 3 Nov., 1838, called to the bar 25 Nov., 1842 (eldest son of Robert H. Ker, Esq., of Greenock); born 7 Dec, 1819; married 7 July, 1851, Mary, dau. of Rev. George Clayton Tennyson, LL.D., and sister of Lord Tennyson, poet laureate; she died 4 April, 1884, leaving a son.
