Lethbridge, Roper, C.I.E., M.A. Exeter Coll., Oxon, attached to Indian foreign department with rank of political agent since 1878, late press commissioner with Government of India, author of A History of India (Macmillan). High Education in India, editor of Calcutta Quarterly Review 1871-8, a student of the Inner Temple 14 April, 1864 (then aged 23), called to tfie bar 9 June, 1880 (eldest son of late Ebenezer Lethbridge, of Ste. Adresse, France, gent.); born 23 Dec, 1840; married 12 July, 1865, Eliza, dau. of Washington Finlay, Esq., late of Ste. Adresse, France, dec., and has issue (see Foster's Our Noble and Gentle Families).
