Man, Edward Garnet, a member of the South-eastern circuit, assistant commissioner, magistrate, and J.P. for Bengal 1858, Government advocate British Burmah 1874, served with 3rd Sikh cavalry in Tirhoot during Indian mutiny, special correspondent of Times during Perak war, author of The Trade and Commerce of the United Kingdom, of Southalia and the Southals, a student of Lincoln's Inn 24 Jan., 1863 (then aged 25), called to the bar 9 June, 1865 (4th son of late Harry Stoe Man, of Halsted Hall, Kent, commander R.N., dec.); born 8 Feb., 1837; married 26 Dec., 1867, Catherine Jane, dau. of James Matthews, Esq., of London and Halliford, Middlesex.
