Rowsell, Francis William, C.B. 1879, C.M.G. 1880, British commissioner of ceded Daira lands, Egypt, since 1878, director of naval contracts admiralty 1873–8, entered admiralty 1855, a commissioner for inquiry relating to courts of justice 1873–4, to Government of Malta 1877–8, to post office supplies, and to London workhouse contracts, a student of the Middle Temple 15 Oct., 1859, called to the bar 11 June, 1862 (4th son of Samuel William Rowsell, of London); born , 1838; married 17 Nov., 1866, Harriette Emily, 2nd dau. of late William James Lancaster, Esq., of London.
