Vaughan, James, B.A. Oxon 1835, police magistrate at Bow Street since 1864, chairman of election inquiry commission for Gloucester 1859 and for Berwick-on-Tweed 1860, J.P. Middlesex, Kent, Surrey, Herts, and Essex, a student of the Middle Temple 22 April, 1835, called to the bar 22 Nov., 1839 (eldest son of Richard Vaughan, Esq., of Cardiff); born , 1814; married 1st, 23 Aug., 1849, Esther, dau. of late Jacob Bright, Esq., of Rochdale; she died , ; he married 2ndly, 21 Dec., 1854, Joanna Russell, younger dau. of late Richard Smethurst, Esq., J.P., D.L., of Chorley.
