Sir Edward Osburne,

LORD MAYOR OF LONDON IN 1583,

Was a native of Ashford. He belonged to the Clothworkers' Company, and served the office of Sheriff in 1575. He died in 1591, and was buried in St. Dionis Backchurch, where there is a monument to his memory.
