This fine species is confined to the Chatham Islands, where it is not uncommon, attaining a height of 25 ft. The branches are often bare of leaves except at the extremities, so that the habit of the plant is not so handsome as in others of the shrubby species. The fine, large heads of yellow flowers are, however, very ornamental, and the plant has consequently gained itself a place in many colonial gardens. (Cheeseman). It flowers in February.
