Oh, bid me not, with smiling eye,
  Relate the cause of all my pain,
For when you smile, alas! I sigh,
  And when you're said, I sigh again.

The smile, the sigh, from thee that flows,
  Must still a source of anguish be;—
Unless the smile, to bless me, glows,
  Unless the sigh is breathed for me.
