and showed no such appearances microscopically, was easily torn from its attachments, and left a rather defined cavity in the upper, anterior part of the bone, 5 in. in length, and involving almost its whole width and depth. The affected surface is rough, but the structure is generally sufficiently compact ; and, otherwise, the bone is but little affected. 1867. Dr. B. M. Hodges.
