Hommage lige. Is done by the vassall vngirt, and bare-headed, with ioyned hands layed on the Euangelists, and a kisse receiued in the taking of his oath; and binds him to become an enemie to all his Lords enemies, and to follow him all his life time against all men (except the King.) Hommage plein. Full, or absolute homage; or, as Hommage lige. (And yet some Customes make them differ; Seeke Lige.) Hommage simple. as Hommage de bouche, & des mains. Hommagé: m. ée: f. Held by homage; for which homage is due, or done.
Hommager. To owe, or doe homage vnto; also, to reuerence.
Hommasse: f. as Hommace.
Homme: m. A Man; also, a tenant, &c; (Looke the next marginall word.)
Homme de bras. An Artificer, or Handicrafts man; one that gets his liuing by the labour of his hands.
Homme de Capeline. A resolute, or valiant fellow.
Homme de peine. A laborious, or painefull fellow; an extreame toyler, or traueller; also, as Homme de bras.
Homme de bon cresme. A plaine, honest, sincere, open-hearted companion.

Celuy est homme de bien qui est homme de biens: Prov. He is a righteous, that is a rich, man (sayes the worldling.)
À grand homme grand verre: Prov. Looke Verre.
De meschant homme bon Roy: Prov. A froward man becomes a good King.
Autant chemine vn homme en vn iour comme vn limaçon en cent ans: Pro. Seeke Limaçon.
Bon poete mauvais homme: Prov. A good Poet an euill person.
Il ne faut pas enquerir d'ou soit l'homme mais
qu'il soit bon: Prov. No matter whence one comes so he be good. Le bœuf par la corne, & l'homme par la parole: Prov. An Ox (is bound) by the horne, a man by his word. Tant travaille, & tracasse l'homme qu'il se rompt, ou somme. Looke Travailler. Tant vaut l'homme tant vaut sa terre: Prov. A man is prised by his land; See Terre. Vne science requiert tout son homme: Prov. One Art requires a whole man; a man that will be perfect in an Art must follow nothing else.
Homme: m. A Tenant, Liegeman, Vassall, Subiect. Homme de corps. A villaine, or one that holds by a seruile tenure. Hommes de la Cour du seigneur. Such as owe suite and seruice to his Court. Homme feudal. Is, in some Customes, the title of a Lord; but in the most, of a vassall. Homme de fief. A Vassall, or Tenant in freehold; and sometimes the Lord of a Fief. Hommes de la loy (de Gand.) The Magistrats (of Gaunt.) Homme sans moyen. That holds immediatly (and by homage) of the Crowne. Homme de paix. A vassall that ought to be at peace with his Lord; or ought (by the vertue of his homage) to keepe the peace made by his Lord; or one that hath sworne friendship, and fellowship with a greater then himselfe. Homme de plejure. A vassall that is, or may be, a Bayle, Pledge, or Suretie for his Lord. Hommes proffitables. Of whom the Lord makes profit, or from whom he hath his reuenue. Homme de service. That holds his land by fealtie, and certaine manuall, or meane, seruices. Homme de servitude. A villaine; or one that holds by a seruile tenure. Homme vivant, mourant, & confiscant. A Vicar, Substitute, or Deputie for a Church, Colledge, or Comminaltie; at whose death the Lords of their fiefs are to haue such rights as would haue beene due out of them at the death of a temporall, or single, tenant. Droict d'hommes. A Priuiledge which the Kings Officers haue, in some places, to qualifie, and lessen the excessiue taxes imposed by the Lords on their Tenants, whom otherwise they might tax at their pleasure. Faute, ou defaut d'homme. Want, or omission of due homage, fealtie, or seruices; whereby the Land-*lord is enabled to seize into his hands the fief out of which they be due.
