INTERJECTIONS.
The Interjections aleŭ! valeŭ! ‘alas!’ are used alone, and have no connection with the words which follow them.
Vaĭ, ‘woe,’ amar (conveying a feeling of bitterness), ferice (implying joy or happiness), sĕrac (implying pity), require the noun which follows them to be in the ablative with de:
Vaĭ de mine, | ‘Woe to me.’ |
Sĕrac de mine, | ‘Poor me,’ etc. |
But vaĭ and amar can also be used with a dative: vaĭ mie, amar ṭie.
