An Ordinance to adapt certain military references in, and other related provisions of, the laws of Hong Kong to bring them into conformity with the Basic Law and with the status of Hong Kong as a Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China.

1. Short title
This Ordinance may be cited as the Adaptation of Laws (Military References) Ordinance 2012.
2. Commencement
(1) This Ordinance, except as provided in subsections (3), (4) and (5), is deemed to have come into operation on 1 July 1997.
(2) Subsection (1) is subject to Article 12 of the Hong Kong Bill of Rights set out in Part II of the Hong Kong Bill of Rights Ordinance (Cap. 383).
(3) Sections 3, 6, 7, 8, 11, 13, 26, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 49, 50, 51, 52, 53, 54, 55, 56, 57, 58, 59, 65, 66, 67, 68, 69, 70, 71, 72, 73, 74, 75, 76, 77, 78, 79, 80, 81, 82, 85, 86, 89, 90, 92, 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, 98, 99, 100, 103, 104, 106, 107, 110, 111, 112, 113, 114, 116, 117, 118, 119, 120, 121, 122, 123, 124, 125, 126, 127, 128, 129, 131, 135 and 136 of Schedule 1 come into operation on the day on which this Ordinance is published in the Gazette.
(4) Section 2 of Schedule 2 is deemed to have come into operation on 16 January 1998.
(5) Section 3 of Schedule 2 is deemed to have come into operation on 22 June 1998.
