SUPERSTITION.

Superstition is a senseless, stupid belief. I am afraid I cannot find any other words to express my feelings towards it. In my lecture on Sri Krishna I explained to you how many superstitious beliefs our Hindus entertain regarding him.

As for beliefs founded on Puranic teachings, every one should take the trouble to use his brains and think for what purpose, in what connection, and with what object such and such teachings were given. Many stories describe things quite beyond the power of human nature and many more refer to what is said to have been the subject-matter of the conversation between dumb animals, or to rational acts said to have been done by them.
