Clennock, Maurice, a native of Carnarvonshire, B.C.L. (sup.) 1548, chaplain, servant, and domestic to Cardinal Pole; rector of Orpington, Kent, and dean of Shoreham and Croydon, rector of Gatcombe, Isle of Wight, 1554, sinecure rector of Corwen 1556, canon of York and an officer of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury, nominated bishop of Bangor by Queen Mary, but as she died before he was consecrated he fled beyond seas, became the first rector of the English hospital at Rome 1578-81.
