Sherte, John (Shirte), B.A. from Brasenose Coll., 17 Jan., 1566-7; a schoolmaster in London; became a priest at the English college at Rome, sent into the mission of England, and lived in Cheshire his native county; for being a priest and denying the Queen's supremacy, he was hanged, drawn and quartered at London, 28 May 1582.
