THE AMERICAN JOURNAL OF SOCIOLOGY

or the science of the laws of society, is one that requires ample preparation. I cannot, therefore, agree with those who would introduce it early in the undergraduate course. At the earliest it should not be taken up before the senior year, and its study in any adequate manner should be made postgraduate. It is essentially a university study, while the preparation for it, i. e., the acquirement of the Data of Sociology, belongs to the gymnasium.
