NOTE to Second Edition—This edition has been so thoroughly revised, it is almost a new work. Admitting the hypothesis of Natural Selection to be true; it is evident, there would be as much, if not more, creative foresight in the development of the Animal World through the evolution of species; than if it had been created as described in Genesis. Unless we adopt the theory of chance, the Plan or design must exist before the thing created, and the archetypes are irrefragable evidence of a pre-arranged plan. However some of Mr. Darwin’s followers are beginning to see that his hypothesis is imperfect, and suggest a new theory of the origin of species.
