My love is frank, good-natured, kind;
Not scornful, proud, or small of mind;
Her tones are music to the poor,
And young men list but to adore.
But ah! 'tis heaven to think upon.
Though kind and sweet to all,
Save on my charmed ear alone
Her words of love ne'er fall.
