ORDNANCE

Ordnance Repair Shop, Shed No. 7, Service Force Subordinate Command, Seventh Fleet.

Mission: To train armed guard pool - overhaul and repair armed guard ordnance equipment, maintain stowage and issue of ammunition in Fremantle area, provide small arms range facilities for ships under Commander Task Force, Seventy One.

Ordnance Repair Shop is a wooden building formerly used as a wool storage shed: size 72'3" by 72'3".

This activity has equipment and facilities necessary to accomplish the mission as set forth in (1) above.

Personnel: 1 gunner as OinC and 6 enlisted men.




Armory, U.S. Naval Receiving Barracks, Navy 137.

Mission: Overhaul, maintain and stow small arms used for security, riot squads and boarding parties that may be required by Commander Service Force Subordinate Command, Seventh Fleet. Small arms consist mainly of .45 cal. pistols, .30 cal. carbines, .45 cal. Thompson submachine guns, and 12 gauge shotguns.

This unit is housed in 2 rooms of the Navy Receiving Barracks, Navy 137. The workshop is 24'9" by 10'2". The storeroom is 15'4" by 10'8".

Equipment sufficient to accomplish the mission.

Personnel: 2 enlisted men.




Gas Chamber, U.S. Naval Receiving Barracks, Navy 137.

Mission: To instruct Allied Naval Personnel under Commander Task Force Seventy-One in gas warfare.

This facility is located in a wooden building, 28'4" by 11'4" within the Receiving Barracks Compound, Navy 137.

This facility is operated by personnel assigned to the Armory.

U.S. Naval Magazine, Navy 137, Spring Hill.

Mission: Stow, issue, and receive ammunition for Service Force Subordinate Command Seventh Fleet. Conduct prescribed Bureau of Ordnance tests; namely tests of smokeless powder, monthly breakdown and inspection report. Approximately 4,000 tons of ammunition maintained.
